The Cremation of Sam McGee [UPDATE: I'm not accepting video responses to this video. Sorry folks.] A reading of the poem by Robert W. Service (Jan. 16, 1874 - Sept. 11, 1958). Most people reading this poem treat it as lightweight fare, a funny parody of a horror story. Service probably intended it that way. But for my own amusement, and as a gesture towards Halloween, I've attempted to reinterpret the poem as genuine horror. It wasn't easy! The climactic stanza is hilarious, not scary. I'll rely on you folks to tell me if I succeeded. Once again, folks who like their poems read as though they were songs, adhering tightly to their rhythmic structure, will be disappointed. I don't read poems that way very often. American McGee's Alice American McGee's Alice,the Third Person Shooter computer game released in October 2000. Set years after Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Alice features an older, more cynical and macabre incarnation of Alice. Shortly after her second adventure, Alice's parents are killed in a fire of which she is the only survivor. Driven catatonic and having attempted suicide (as found in the case book), she is institutionalised in Rutledge Asylum. Years later, She is called by the White Rabbit to the aid of a radically altered Wonderland now under the despotic rule of the Queen of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat in particular now looks very different from Sir John Tenniel's original illustration: the cat is shown here as skeletally thin and his grin looks more devious than mischievous. The Cat is Alice's constant companion throughout the game, popping up now and again to guide or offer advice. In the end, Alice defeates the Queen of Hearts and restores Wonderland to its original form. Thus, she overcomes the madness that's been drowning her since the fire. Alice finally leaving the Asylum. Kris Kristopherson - Me And Bobby McGee Me and Bobby McGee was Kristopherson's first and biggest hit. It was first recorded in 1970 by a Country singer named Roger Miller but did not do well. Kris Kristofferson released this later in 1970 on his first album, Kristofferson. Kris dated Janis Joplin until her death in October of 1970. She had recorded the song and it was released after her death on her Pearl album. It skyrocketed and is considered one of the all time great songs. Kristofferson's album was re-released as Me And Bobby McGee to take advantage of the song's new popularity. This is the version from the original Kristopher album. Tags: 1970 country
