Carter's World Trip 2007 - Part 4 The last video of my trip starts out in Mexico City where I stay with Yorkey. Apart from spending time in the city we take a trip to Acapulco and some Aztec pyramids outside of the city. Next is Los Angeles where among many things go to a Wolfmother concert, Hollywood, Disneyland mostly just chilln out. "Next To Normal" audio preview Ok so there is this AMAZING show currently playing at the 2nd Stage theater off Broadway, and it is called Next To Normal (formerly known, in previous incarnations, as 'Feeling Electric'). I didn't want to make too much of a preview for it, becuase I feel like you really need to just see it to appreciate how wonderful it is. But I DID want to post a few of the songs up so that people could get a taste of the music. *WARNING*: There is a fundemental spoiler about the show, and it's really hard to give any kind of explanation or preview of the show without giving this spoiler away at all. The songs that I have posted are POST spoiler. I don't *think* it's that easy to tell what is going on just by listening to the music if you don't know the story, but if you really don't want to know ANYTHING about the story going in, I'd advise caution in listening to this. Again, though, I have a feeling that if you don't know anything about the story you're really not going to follow what is going on anyway. I'm purposely NOT going to explain anything more, or give any kind of summary of what's going on in the songs. "Next To Normal" audio preview (part 4) So this is actually a full clip from the show. I wanted to include Feeling Electric, but felt it would be most effective to show what leads up to it as well. SO. For just this one part, I will explain a little about what happens that leads up to this point in the show: Diana Goodman, who has been struggling with severe manic depression, has just attempted to commit suicide. When taken to the hospital, her doctor, Dr. Madden, determines that ECT (shock therapy) will be the most effective course of action in her case. He explains the procedure to Diana's husband Dan, who is frightened by the prospect of it, but willing to give it a shot if it will help, assured by Dr. Madden that it is no longer dangerous, and, in fact "safer than crossing the street" with very few common side effects. We pick up here with Dr. Madden now explaining the procedure to Diana. (OH, and it's probably worth mentioning- because I'm not sure how apparant this is if you're just listening to this alone and don't know the story- that the Feeling Electric number is all a hallucination of Diana's.
