Veganism and vegetarianism in Islam&Turkiye
The answer to 'How is the current situation of vegetarianism in Turkey? ', or 'How many vegetarians are there in Turkey?' is really very difficult to answer, exactly like in the USA, or any other county in the world. The famous and historical Turkish cuisine is offering a vast opportunity of items particularly for lacto-vegetarians as well as the acceptance of dry beans and rice, chickpeas (or lentils or peas) and bulghur (cracked wheat). Widely known 'yoghurt' is a word which has entered Western languages from Turkish (yogurt) since it is the oldest food of Nomadic Turkish tribes brought from Middle Asian steppes having many derivatives like Ayran (yoghurt drink), Cacik (appetiser), Kurut (dried yoghurt), Süzme (dense yoghurt),etc. Another trend nowadays is preference of white meat or soya products like textured soy protein, tofu and soy milk to red meat.By the way if you are interested in soymilk you can watch my video showing to make a soymilk machine as a hobby at home in youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ2NA2ucPss ..Although you can see a McDonald's, Burger King or Dönner Kebap shop on every corner of Istanbul there are also about 10 restaurants identifying themselves as vegetarian restaurants except 15-20 Far-Eastern restaurants. Nevertheless as mentioned before, in local restaurants you can generally find tasty alternatives for veggies. Once a year Turks sacrifice a ram in memory of Prophet Abraham but Islam advises less consumption of meat saying 'too much meat consumption is a kind of addiction like alcoholic drinks'.The prominent Islam scholar Abdül Kadir Geylani would once a year have a vegan diet for 40 days and if we examine Islam and Prophet Mohammed's sayings we see that he advices us to eat meat at least once in 40 days otherwise our nature wil be harmed and when we examine the contemporary medicine we see that the best source of vitamin B12 and iron is red meat.It is very obvious that our body will have no harm if we eat meat once or twice in 40 days.On the contrary this is exactly the way of nutrition of thousands of centenerians in Turkey,Caucasia,Balcans .Zaro Agha who lived 160 years ..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvCTNQISFfk These people eat meat very rarely as adviced by Islam and their basic protein source is yoghurt just. On the other hand if we examine the life of George Bernard Shaw who is known to be the longest living vegan we can see that he had pernicious anemia in most of his life of 92 years. In Islam "HUMAN" is the most honored creature like in all other religions and all the other things were simply created to serve him . I think that the people of our world hopefully will find the right path to the century's biggest fact of 'Ovo-lacto vegetarians tend to live longer and to suffer less from chronic disabling conditions than their meat eating peers' as stated in the most imporatnt Medicine book of the world (The Merck Manual, 15 th Edition, Pg.9). judsonlaipply ,Evolution of Dance,Dancing, comedy, okgo,ok,go,treadmills, here,it,goes, again, hereitgoesagain,PARISIN JAIL,Larry, King, parody, showbiz, tonight,CNN,access, hollywood, bikini,Legs, feet, butt, boobs,IMVU - www.IMVU.com,guitar,canon,rock,kid,jerryc, funtwo,cannon,solo,lesson,guitar90,prabhu, deva,Kalluri,Vaanil,Pennin,Manathai,Thottu, laughter, revelry, child,Hahaha , Tags: Vegan vegetarian vejeteryan soymilk machine zaro agha longevity immortality film nutrition ufo soccer song music movie advice community dating personals random video blog wisdom |

The Face on your Plate, or The Case for Veganism
After 2000 years of writing about vegetarianism, is there anything new to say. Jeff Masson thinks so. Too many people say they are willing to eat meat from an animal who has led a happy life (and, they add, a gentle death). Masson looks in some depth at what it means for an animal to be happy. This is a 10-minute excerpt from Dr. Masson's 80-minute presentation at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo 2007. To get a full copy of this talk on DVD, along with 11 other fascinating talks, see http://www.vegsource.com/ and click on "STORE." Tags: vegan vegetarian health animal rights veganism emotions |

Why does meat taste good?
http://www.doandont.com My official entry into the world of vegetarianism/veganism/fruitarianism. haha. TOPIC: Why do we like to eat meat? Whats the psychology behind it? What is taste? Why do we stop a heart from beating to taste & nourish when we could chop off a plant that regrows? Hmm, interesting things to think about. Ok, so I think a lot and make one video per day. So sue me. 11th International Vegan Festival
interview with Helga D´have at 11th International Vegan Festival to Marly Winckler The 11th International Vegan Festival was held for the first time in India, a country with strong vegetarian tradition but where veganism is still largely unnown. It was in Murdeshwar, Karnataka, a site of pilgrimage where stands the biggest Shiva statue of India. The venue Hotel had nice installations and a superb view to the beach. People from some 14 countries (Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Iran, Italy, Israel, New Zeeland, South Africa, Sweden, US, UK and of course many from India) gathered to discuss the benefit and advantages of veganism besides of the deleterious effect of a meat and animal products diet in general. Present the founder of this Festival and organizer of 3 Vegan Festivals in Denmark, Kirsten Jungsberg, vegetarian since she was five and vegan since 1979 (some 27 years). Present also the organizer of 9th International Vegan Festival in Australia, Zalan Glen. See report of Zalan. shankar-marcha.jpg The atmosphere was very nice during the entire event which had excellent presentations. Shankar Narayan, president of the Indian Vegan Society and Indian coordinator of International Vegetarian Union worked very hard for more than a year to put together this Festival. And the result was there: 6 days plenty with talks, many artistic presentation and confraternity, in a informal and friendship clime. marcha2.jpgWe started every day with a yoga class whose instructor kindly received us during the Festival in is own Indian typical home with a very good lunch and dance presentation from the villagers and an expert demonstration of coconut collecting. Meetings like these one besides of strengthening ties among activists are inspirational moment for charging batteries for the arduous work in front of us of fighting so that veganism become more and more recognized and putting in practice. I met there some friends of other international veg events, among them some who attended the 36th World Vegetarian Congress, in Florianopolis, in 2004 and people I met at 8th Vegan Festival, in San Diego, in 1995, as Karin Gunarson and Juan Deguara. comida.jpg It is the big vegan family that goes around the seven seas to be part of this net who works for a better world; a world without cruelty and exploitation, a compassionate, peaceful, sustainable and equitable world free from famine and injustice. On the 2nd of October, Gandhi´s birthday, we did a Peaceful March for about 2 km, from the venue to the city gate. karin-felix.jpg The trips were amusing: cashew plant, yoga teacher typical Indian home and the Jog Falls, the highest water falls in India. Brazil and Italy presented proposals to organize the next Vegan Festivals. The Serena Coles Committee soon will inform about dates and venues. Brazil is prepared to organize an International Vegan Festival in Rio de Janeiro in 2009. All are invited! Veg in Rio 2009 Tags: vegetariano vegano vegan vegetarian vegfest festival |

Animal Rights Conference 2007 - Jeff Popick
Jeff Popick, also known as "The Vegan Sage," is a keen visionary and one of the leading experts on the diverse effects our diet has on our lives and our world. Jeff has worn many hats over the years, from lively radio host ("Vegetarian Lifestyles," KIEV 870 AM, Los Angeles) to millionaire businessman to passionate author. His latest book, The Real Forbidden Fruit: How Meat Destroys Paradise and How Veganism Can Get It Back, offers a compelling look at how Jeff believes the world was created to be a paradise and the single cause of our demise has been meat. Jeff's assertion is the forbidden fruit was actually meat, and he offers a logical, rational and systematic road map showing the reader how he got there. Jeff's passion is helping people embrace the principles of veganism and, in so doing, create the paradise the world was originally intended to be. To that end, Jeff is heavily involved in marketing and promoting the vegan message and is also developing healthy and humane vegan products. Why i'm on a vegan "karma-free" diet
Why go vegan and even better raw vegan? Many people have asked me why I eat a vegan diet, so I'm long overdue for a video blog on this topic. Let me first say I'm not interested in trying to convert you to veganism. While many vegans are conversion-happy, for me this is a personal lifestyle choice and not a religion. I chose to be vegan for health, moral, spiritual and conscious reasons. I used to be a yoga teacher and I follow the ahimsa , the sanskrit word for non-violence. Ahimsa is a rule of conduct that bars the killing or injuring of living beings and that includes eating the animal flesh. It is closely connected with the notion that all kinds of violence entail negative karmic consequences. I also believe in energy transfers and if the animal has been killed in an inhumane way filled with fear, sadness, suffering, tears and stress. Their energy and essence gets transfered to the human being who consume them. When I studied yoga, we learned of the three gunas. The sattvic guna which is pure essence from mostly fruits and vegetables infused by the energy of the sun, the rajasic which are herbs, spices and earth foods, lastly the Tamasic which is decay, dead and negativity. These are foods that are animal flesh, fish, eggs, fried food, drugs and alchohol which causes negative energy. Tags: vegan veganism gunas energy |
