Michael Arden's "Not Afraid" sung by Gavin Creel So I came across this demo version of "Not Afraid" that's sung by Gavin Creel, and I have established that it is one of the most gorgeous things I have ever heard. Michael Arden= a complete and utter genius in every sense of the word (come on, to write a song THAT amazing at like 22 years old? craziness!). And Gavin Creel has... probably one of my favorite voices in the known universe. So.. yeah, I just had to share, because it's so DAMN good! oh and I had to throw a few pics in there two because. They're both sickeningly GORGEOUS *le sigh* :) Tags: Not Afraid Michael Arden Gavin Creel Easter Rising |

Michael Arden on Grey's Anatomy Because Michael Arden is quite possibly THE most adorable person on the planet. Plus, lord love his character's wonderful little storyline for being the bit of hilariousness in the midst of a VERY intense, emotional Grey's episode! Oh, and how ridiculously funny is Cristina/Sandra Oh? :D Tags: Michael Arden Grey's Anatomy Season finale 17 seconds |

Next to Normal- video preview So, I've uploaded all of these audio previews- now I figure it's time to collect all of the videos that have been released and make a handy dandy Next to Normal VIDEO preview! :) Unfortunately, the show is now longer running, but we still need to keep the interest for it up so that there will be the best chance possible for an open Broadway run in 2009! Anyway, without further ado- here is a video preview of the show, along with some lovely interviews of the cast that were done on opening night! (I apologize for the very loud "You Don't Know" clip that comes up between all of the others- it was from another video and so the sound level is different. But it's one of my favorite parts of the show and Alice Ripley is SO fierce, so I couldn't not put it in! haha) Tags: Next To Normal Feeling Electric Tom Kitt Brian Yorkey Alice Ripley d'Arcy James Aaron Tveit Jennifer Damiano |

"Next To Normal" audio preview (part 4) So this is actually a full clip from the show. I wanted to include Feeling Electric, but felt it would be most effective to show what leads up to it as well. SO. For just this one part, I will explain a little about what happens that leads up to this point in the show: Diana Goodman, who has been struggling with severe manic depression, has just attempted to commit suicide. When taken to the hospital, her doctor, Dr. Madden, determines that ECT (shock therapy) will be the most effective course of action in her case. He explains the procedure to Diana's husband Dan, who is frightened by the prospect of it, but willing to give it a shot if it will help, assured by Dr. Madden that it is no longer dangerous, and, in fact "safer than crossing the street" with very few common side effects. We pick up here with Dr. Madden now explaining the procedure to Diana. (OH, and it's probably worth mentioning- because I'm not sure how apparant this is if you're just listening to this alone and don't know the story- that the Feeling Electric number is all a hallucination of Diana's. Dr. Madden doesn't ACTUALLY break into a rock anthem as the ECT is being given :P) ------------------- From the previous previews: Ok so there is this AMAZING show currently playing at the 2nd Stage theater off Broadway, and it is called Next To Normal (formerly known, in previous incarnations, as 'Feeling Electric'). I didn't want to make too much of a preview for it, becuase I feel like you really need to just see it to appreciate how wonderful it is. But I DID want to post a few of the songs up so that people could get a taste of the music. *WARNING*: There is a fundemental spoiler about the show, and it's really hard to give any kind of explanation or preview of the show without giving this spoiler away at all. The songs that I have posted are POST spoiler. I don't *think* it's that easy to tell what is going on just by listening to the music if you don't know the story, but if you really don't want to know ANYTHING about the story going in, I'd advise caution in listening to this. Again, though, I have a feeling that if you don't know anything about the story you're really not going to follow what is going on anyway. I'm purposely NOT going to explain anything more, or give any kind of summary of what's going on in the songs. Again, I really want this to just be a preview of a couple of really good songs, so that if people like it, and they live near NYC, they will go buy tickets pronto and see it for themselves! The following morning, the groggy students gather for their least favorite St. Cecilia's activity: confession (Confessions). Peter comes close to telling the priest how he feels, and Matt comes even closer to telling him what he saw. At first rehearsal that afternoon, Sister Chantelle realizes she has her work cut out for her. During a break, Ivy's promiscuity is called into question, and she reflects on the image the students have of her (Portrait of a Girl).
